More about Reiki
Some people feel the energy as heat, others as coolness or tingling or vibration. Some people don’t feel much of anything during a session, but after a good night’s sleep, they may find they feel better than they have in a long time. Reiki means “Universal Life Energy,” and a session fills your body with this vital energy. The practitioner supplies the energy; your body-mind system absorbs it the way a sponge absorbs water, and then your body-mind uses the energy to boost its own natural processes.
Whether you simply wish to relax or are working on specific health or emotional issues, Reiki can help. There is no pressure or manipulation involved, so it is very gentle and safe for everyone, including those who have recently had surgery. Reiki administered before and after chemotherapy or radiation treatments can help tremendously, limiting the negative side effects and making these treatments more effective. Reiki also soothes and uplifts the emotions, allows for emotional release and insight, and can facilitate new patterns of thinking, feeling, and
behaving, making it an excellent adjunct to psychotherapy as well as conventional medical treatments. With Reiki, we can work on all levels, from the physical to the mental-emotional and spiritual. We can even communicate with the Higher Self and influence both past and future. In short, Reiki can stand alone as a multi-faceted healing tool or enhance the effects of any other modality you are using.

Reiki Lineage
A gentle, comforting form of energy work, Reiki has been attributed to Dr. Mikao Usui of Japan. After a long search, Dr. Usui believed that he had unlocked the way Jesus and Gautama Buddha healed. His investigations took him from Japan to the United States, then to Buddhist monasteries high in the Himalayas where he studied ancient Pali texts, and finally to a mountaintop in Japan, where he spent 21 days in solitary meditation until he received the answer he sought about how to apply the knowledge he had uncovered. Whether you think of Reiki as connected to Jesus and Buddha or not, this work has been in use since Dr. Usui brought it down the mountain in the 1922.
Usui trained Hayashi and named him to serve as Grand Master of Reiki upon Usui's death; Hayashi trained Takata and named her as Grand Master to follow himself.
Cara Gallucci was trained by John Harvey Gray and, after his passing, by Lourdes Gray, his wife and successor. John was one of the 22 original Reiki Masters who studied directly with Mrs. Hawayo Takata. Appointed Grand Master just before World War II, Mrs. Takata brought Reiki from its isolation in Japan, where it nearly died out during the war, to her home in Hawaii. From there, she was instrumental in spreading Reiki to the rest of the world. Don’t be fooled by the simplicity and ease of Reiki. It’s a powerful form of healing energy. Come experience for yourself!
